On September 16, 2022, the winners of the Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis 2022, Dorothea Schupelius (violin) and Jelizaveta Vasiljeva (piano), will release their debut album under the title #Wunderkammer. The basis of the debut album is the innovative winning concept with which the two young musicians convinced the expert jury headed by Prof. Dr. Dieter Rexroth at the beginning of the year. With “#Wunderkammer”, the duo for violin and piano embarks on a journey into music history and explores the influence of the media on music – from the first music broadcast over the radio to the digital present with the Internet, live streaming and social media. The recordings of the works by Kreisler, Ravel, Toch, Steiner, Korngold, Weill, Morricone and Heck were completed in the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Hamburg.

On her debut album, which is being released in November on the label ES DUR, this young French harpist would like to present her instrument to listeners as an “unique example of compositional innovation and transition”, far from any excessive romanticism or lavish harmonies. After all, the harp is one of the oldest instruments known to music history and has passed through many different eras and stylistic epochs over the centuries. In the 20th century, it was often deprecated as a kind of angelic salon instrument.

With their new album “Manu Scriptum” (from Latin: written by hand), Spanish hornist Adrián Díaz Martínez – professor of horn at the Musikhochschule Lübeck since 2021 – and his Japanese piano partner Ikuko Odai once again present an exciting concept album.

The album is inspired by the composers’ manuscripts and their first sketches and ideas for their works. “Interpreting such first musical ideas” – writes Díaz Martínez – “is a particularly exciting task, because in this way you trace the original idea of these sounds.”
