This new release from DUX presents selected works of Henryk Wieniawski and Andrezej Nikodemowicz for violin and piano; performed here by violinist Dominika Falger and pianist Gajusz Keska.Henryk Wieniawski was one of the most outstanding violinists of the second half of the 19th century. In the first years of his career, his works were mainly virtuoso pieces; compositions testifying to the technical efficiency of an excellent violinist (including the Polonaise in D Major, Op. 4, Caprices, Op. 10, the Concerto in F-sharp Minor, Op. 14). In later works, he clearly sought a compromise between the technical layer and the depth of musical expression. In the works recorded on this album, Wieniawski refers to the best traditions of salon music.

This new release from DUX presents world premiere recordings of pieces of Polish sacred music from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Musica Warmiensis Vol. 2, is a continuation of a project, founded by the director of the Warmia Metropolitan Seminary “Hosianum” in Olsztyn, Rev. Dr. Tomasz Garwolinski. This series of releases unearths from the depths of history works of sacred music from the second half of the 18th and the first half of the 19th centuries, once performed by church bands existing in Warmia.
The works are mostly vocal-instrumental compositions of a sacred character: arias, vespers, litanies, offertories, graduals, masses, but also symphonies and others, mostly dedicated to the band of Dobre Miasto.

It is worth emphasizing that this album is not only the fruit of the ensemble’s hard work, but also the result of expanding its musical capabilities, which makes us very glad and proud. This new release from DUX presents two 19th-century symphonies of two Polish composers belonging to two different generations, so far almost unknown.
The Symphony in C Minor by Mirecki was his only symphonic work. It was preserved in a manuscript copy of the Main Library of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, was released by the Polish Music Publishing House in 1972, but with a commentary suggesting that it had little value.

Polish-American pianist Anna Kijanowska is a multi-faceted musician, smoothly transitioning between her roles as a performing and recording artist, pedagogue, and advocate of contemporary classical music.
Hailed by The New York Times as „an excellent young Polish pianist,“ and by Brazilian critics as “the Tina Turner of classical music”, Kijanowska’s concert performances represent the stunning diversity of today’s globalized classical music scene. She is equally at home performing in Carnegie Hall as the steppes of Mongolia. Her New York debut took place in 1997 with a live broadcast over WQXR, and she has appeared in Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall (NYC), and the Kennedy Center and National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C, as well as in underserved venues such as the Amazon basin in Brazil, the Himalayas in Nepal, and Mongolia.
